Opening Day for Trails March 28
Besides the Open House this weekend at the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center, this weekend, Saturday is also the Opening Day for Trails.
Of course, you can combine the two with a visit to Pequest and a walk on their short and easy trails. The Open House, which usually takes place the weekend before Trout Season opens, is held at the hatchery from 10 - 4 both days, rain or shine.
The Opening Day for Trails is an event promoted by the Rails To Trails Conservancy but it happens wherever a trail exists, whether that be your local woods or the Appalachian Trail.
We frequently post about hiking in New Jersey and about the many trails in our state, so check out those posts and find a nearby trail to celebrate the spring!
This list of hikes in the state that was published for the new year has easy to moderate walk and hikes that are appropriate for novices or regular walkers and hikers of different ages and even includes ones for bikes and horse.
