Reviewing NJ Birds for a Species Update

Peregrine falcon - Jersey City

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife periodically conducts status assessments for groups of wildlife. The Division is preparing to begin a review of NJ waterbird and landbird species to help guide an update of species status, that is, to assist in determining which species should be included on the state's Endangered Species list or designated as Threatened, Special Concern, Stable-Secure, or Undetermined-Unknown on the state's list of nongame wildlife.

To assist us with this process, the Division is inviting persons with expertise and knowledge regarding New Jersey's native bird populations to submit relevant information.

For more information, including how to be invited to participate, visit njfishandwildlife.com/news/2016/bird_status_review16.htm
